A lock of hair which once belonged to John Lennon in a whopping $48,000.00 at UK auction house Gorringes yesterday.  The lock was previously estimated to fetch about $6,200.00 and suprised everyone when it was finally sold to an anonymous telephone bidder for almost $50,000.00 instead.

The lock was inside a book that Lennon gave to hairdresser Betty Glasow, which was inscribed with the message:

“To Betty, Lots of Love and Hair, John Lennon xx.”
