Critically-acclaimed director Ridley Scott is in talks with Oscar-winning screen star Angelina Jolie for the lead role in Gucci, a new film about the glory days, murder, and ultimate decline of the Gucci fashion dynasty, according to a scoop from Variety on Wednesday.

The saga will include the glamorous Gucci era in the 1970s and 80s, the rise of Maurizio Gucchi, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci, and his contract killing arranged by wife Patrizia in 1995. Patrizia was sentenced to 29 years in prison for plotting the murder of Maurizio. Fox 2000 wants to begin filming on the biopic by early next year.
