Cate Blanchett is really quite well known for looking very glamorous and sophisticated when she hits the red carpet, usually wearing gorgeous and flowing gowns.

So I’m not sure why she decided to change it up with this incredibly hideous gold lame dress from somewhere in the mid- to late-seventies.
What a downer of a dress for a normally amazing red carpet star. What do you think? Yes or no?

Cate Blanchett was on hand to attend the SK-II Luncheon in L.A. SK-II is a very high end skin care line, and Cate represents the line as their U.S. face (which is kind of amusing, really).
InStyle.com has announced their top 10 picks for Most Stylish Female Celebs of 2007 and while I don’t normally agree with most of these lists, this was one I could really get behind and I only disagreed with one of their choices (and I wont say which one), but I was glad to see Joy Bryant make this list - she’s been a personal favorite of mine for some time.

1. Natalie Portman
2. Drew Barrymore
3. Cameron Diaz
4. Penelope Cruz
5. Jennifer Lopez
6. Anne Hathaway
7. Cate Blanchett
8. Sienna Miller
9. Helen Mirren
10. Joy Bryant
Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham - who seem to be on just about every list these days - including best hair - didn’t make the cut this time around.
They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, so what sort of diamond girl are you? Diamonds should be an expression of your unique style and personality, so are you a J.Lo, a Nicole Kidman, a Cate Blanchett - or just you?

The Wild Child (Beyonce Knowles, Ali Larter): Like Ali and Beyonce, you look for jewelry pieces that have a sense of individuality or even whimsical humor that help tell the world you’re unique in every facet!

The Fashionista (Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lopez): You crave statement pieces and are always way ahead of the curve!

The Romantic (Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts): You like pieces that will layer into your look and bring out your natural glow.
Lots more after the jump, so read on!

Giorgio Armani paid a visit to Australia for the first time on November 9th, where he attended the Sydney Theatre Company’s dinner, which was held in his honor and hosted by artistic director Robyn Nevin and incoming artistic directors Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton.
His Australian trip follows a visit to Japan, where he opened a new 65,000 square-foot, 12 story store in Tokyo. The store is home to not only his Black Label collection, but also Emporio Armani, Armani Casa, a new Armani Spa, and an Armani Restaurant. Friend Cate Blanchett flew in from Sydney for the opening, while thousands of Tokyo fashionistas watched as the pair arrived to attend the grand opening ceremonies.
