L’Oreal denies lightening Beyonce’s skin color

There’s been a bit of a controversy surrounding Beyonce’s appearance in some of her L’Oreal ads. In one where she’s promoting L’Oreal Feria hair color, her skin tone appears much lighter than usual. It caused quite the outrage among many people, but L’Oreal is now officially denying these claims: “We highly value our relationship with Ms. Knowles. It is categorically untrue that L’Oreal Paris altered Ms. Knowles’ features or skin tone in the campaign for Feria hair color.” I think it’s obvious that she appears lighter, you only need eyes to see that, but I think it could possibly just be the light in the shoot. What do you think? Do you think L’Oreal lightened Beyonce’s skin color?

Have you ever thought there may be high levels of lead in your lipstick?

I’ll admit, this isn’t something I’ve thought about.  Oh sure, we’ve all heard about the lead that’s been found in children’s toys and there was a recall just two weeks on various jewelry manufactured for children, but lipstick?  I’ve never even thought about it - until now and that’s only because I found a story which says Senators John Kerry, Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer are urging the Food and Drug Administration to begin testing a wide range of lipstick brands for the presence of lead, to report their results, and to limit lead in lipstick and other cosmetics products to “the lowest detectable levels found in laboratory tests.”

Celebs attended L’Oreal Paris’ “A Night of Hope,” which was hosted by L’Oreal president Carol J. Hamilton, Harper’s Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Glenda Bailey and actresses Diane Keaton and Andie MacDowell to benefit The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) at Murano last night in Los Angeles.

The evening included a cocktail reception and silent auction, which featured photography, fashions and accessories from designers including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Donna Karan, Bulgari and De Beers.  All proceeds are donated to OCRF’s research programs.

L’Oreal president Carol J. Hamilton said:

“This year marks the tenth anniversary of  L’Oreal Paris’ support of The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. I am proud of the fact that L’Oreal is the largest corporate fundraiser in this critical fight against ovarian cancer. Since 1997, we have helped to raise over $13 million to fund life-saving research and to promote awareness building programs to help empower women to make educated choices about their health and well-being.”
