Let the stampede of customers begin…

Be Still, Stylistas! Italian fashion house Versace will design a wallet-friendly collection for H&M — the world’s second largest retailer — this fall!
Versace is another name in a growing lis of big designers who have linked up with H&M, who have been doing collections with acclaimed fashion house since 2004. Karl Lagerfield, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garcons, Jimmy Choo, and most recently, Lanvin, have collaborated with the high-street establishment on line of cheapie couture.
The Versace for H&M Collection will available in around 300 stores worldwide when arrives on racks on Nov. 19.

It’s shaping up to be a good week for Mad Men fans. Not only is the nostalgic AMC show celebrating a host of Golden Globe nominations, but Versace just released the advertising campaign for the Spring/Summer 2011 collection, featuring Betty Draper herself (otherwise known as January Jones) as you’ve never seen her before: Naked!

January Jones will be the face of Versace’s Spring/Summer 2011 promotional campaign.
The actress — who plays Betty Draper on the Emmy-winning AMC drama Mad Men — will front the Italian fashion house’s spring campaign next year with the images already been shot by legendary photographer Mario Testino. In fact, January was handpicked by pal Donatella Versace.
January’s first Versace snaps are expected to break in the February issue of lifestyle publications.
Designer Donatella Versace blew about $5,000 on sunglasses during a 10-minute shopping spree in New York City earlier this week.

The style guru and Versace creative director wowed shoppers and sales reps in the city’s trendy Meatpacking District after she turned up in a high-end store and selected a number of expensive $500 sunglasses, The NY Post’s PageSix Column reported on Wednesday.
“She walked around saying, ‘this one, and this one, and this one, picking up pairs of sunglasses,” said a source. “She must have bought eight pairs of one-off glasses costing from $500. Then, with a quick ‘Ciao,’ she was gone.”
Donatella Versace is about to get in big trouble with the biggums. The Versace creative director answered reader questions on Vogue.com today, and she got a great one from Darling Daphne in Chicago. Daphne wants to know why high-fashion designers, like Versace, don’t embrace plus-sized ladies like her. After all, just because a girl in overweight, doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to look her best.

Why do designers typically refuse to design for sizes above 10? This question is not meant to be confrontational; I’ve just always wondered about this. Is it simply a prejudice? Wouldn’t it be a good business decision? I can understand not wanting to start a stand-alone plus-size line, but what about extending sizes to 14/16? We have money, too! —Daphne L. Scott, Chicago
We do offer larger sizes at Versace, but I take your point. I certainly wouldn’t want to do a plus-size line, but I have no problem with women of any size wearing my clothes. I guess some styles lend themselves to being scaled up, while some others just don’t work. Sometimes it can depend on the specific piece.
So she doesn’t want to make larger dresses, but if larger women want to buy her clothes she will gladly take their money? Cute…
Giorgio Armani is in the running to become an Italian “senator for life”.
