Cindy Crawford was once desperate to remove her world-famous mole.

The 43-year-old supermodel tells Germany’s InStyle Magazine that she hated the beauty spot, which is just above her lips, and was considering getting rid of it before the growth helped her before one of fashion’s most sought after “It Girls” in the 1990s.

“Everyone bantered me about it and I wanted to remove it. I often tell young women that my shortcoming became ironically my trademark and I encourage them to love everything about themselves – even the parts which are not perfect,” says Cindy, who credits her mother with discouraging her from having surgery.

The ex-catwalk has two children, Presley, 10, and eight-year-old Kaia, with husband Rande Gerber.
