Famed 70’s/80’s designer Liz Claiborne is dead at 78.  The fashion icon died on Tuesday. The cause of death is not yet known.

Liz built the billion-dollar-a-year business in 1976.

The house became famous for designing stylish, moderately priced sportswear that freed working women from plain, dark suits, then expanding into menswear, accessories, and perfume.
