Jelly shoes: Frightening re-birth of a trend

I realize this is dating myself, but are any of you old enough to remember jelly shoes? I was young enough in the 80s that I thought they were the coolest thing ever, but in hindsight I realize they were a horror comparable to the Crocs of today. And yet, for some reason, high end footwear designers have decided to bring them back for another round of being in style, and now you can even get them from Fendi and Marc Jacobs. The re-birth of this trend is bad enough, but now you can even pay about $200 for a pair.
What do you think? Will jelly shoes catch on again or will people stay away this time around? Would you wear them?

The prices have to do with the cost of the resin to manufacture them. But not only that, you are paying for the NAME of the designer. The shoes might cost $3-4 to make, and the rest goes to? You guessed it! The designer. I think jelly shoes are great. I’ve worn them sice I was a kid. I’ve worn mostly womens jellies, and have had a hard time finding ones I liked in larger sizes. I was cursed with big feet.
I think people will buy them, wear them, and collect them. As long as the designers keep making them, and making a new twist on them. I will wear jellies til I’m dead. I love them.
