How would you like to smell like a virgin all over again? Jordin Sparks — winner of the sixth season of American Idol — is heading to the fragrance aisle after announcing plans to launch her debut fragrance this month.

Because of You By Jordin Sparks goes on sale at exclusively at Dots in October before going into mass distribution — including Target — in time for the holidays. The fragrance will be priced at $9.50 in its first month of release before going up to $14.95 on Nov. 1.

“In this economy especially, my fans deserve a high-quality, reasonably priced scent,” Sparks revealed in a chat with Women’s Wear Daily this month. “I looked at some other celebrity fragrances and they were like $80. Even now, I look at a fragrance that’s $80, and I can’t bring myself to spend that much.”

Because of You — developed by Belmay Fragrances — is described as a floral fragrance, accentuated by hints of clementine, white imperial currant and orange blossom; the heart rests on nectarine, sharry baby orchid and coral charm peony; the base notes are sheer musks, vanilla bean, Baltic amber, and blond woods.

The singer promises that the perfume starts as a day fragrance then becomes a nighttime one.

“I wanted it to transfer easily from day to-night, so we needed a little darkness [from the musks and amber] in there,” Sparks explains. “It starts out as a day fragrance and then becomes a night fragrance.”

Sparks is currently working on her next album.
