In the new issue of US magazine, Lauren Conrad lashes back at critics who say that she’s not really involved in her own design line, the Lauren Conrad Collection. She tells the magazine:

“The rumors that I am not the designer of my own collection are ridiculous and hurtful. I’ve been involved in this entire process, every single step of the way. I have wanted to be a fashion designer since I was a little girl. I grew up designing and sewing dresses for my barbie dolls, and the Lauren Conrad Collection has been my dream come true.”

Meanwhile, TMZ.com is one particular site that claims the opposite, saying she’s only involved in the promotion because you never see her picking out fabrics, working on fittings, or anything actually design-related.

Her rep countered by saying:

These claims are absurd. Lauren designs her line from start to finish. She does her own sketches, fabric selection and fittings. Her work as a designer has been documented numerous times in the press. To say she isn’t the designer of the collection is 100% false.”

Unlike her Hills rival, Heidi Montag, Lauren has never struck me as an attention whore. I really do believe that she’s serious about her design work and I believe she is indeed very involved in the process.

Do you believe Lauren?
