Here’s a way to bring lousy publicity to your line - Louis Vuitton has sued a Darfur Fundraiser because an artist created a design featuring a young Darfur refugee carrying a little LV-esque handbag with a tiny dog inside. The point of the design, which is being sold on t-shirts and posters, was to show that stars like Paris Hilton get all the media attention and maybe if we use some of their tricks we can bring a bit of much-needed attention to those who really need it.
Except, even though it’s not an actual LV bag or logo and despite the fact that 100% of the profit goes to the charity, they’re being sued.
That just sucks.

Wow. Really, that takes some serious douchebaggery to sue a Darfur Fundraiser.
I love how Darfur is still a typo in Firefox.

They should settle immediately. They should offer that charity a percentage of the proceeds for that particular handbag design. They should work together and Louis Vuitton can cleanse it’s own banality by taking ownership of a good cause and contribute to the public good. The PR windfall could be beneficial as well.

Unfortunately capitalism doesn’t understand these things. ladies spent thousands of dollars on luxury and kids die of hunger around the world. Amount of money spent on war, weapons etc could resolve a major portion of the issues globally bur world isn’t fair? is it?

As much as I am totally against suing someone over such a worthy cause, I would like to correct this and say Louis Vuitton is suing the artist responsible, not the charity itself. French designers take it very seriously when someone knockoffs their work.
