Tim Gunn doesn’t think Meryl Streep knows how to dress herself and he says he’s obsessed with fixing her up, especially since he recently told People.com:
“I have the greatest respect for [her]. In fact I idolize her. She is enormously talented, enormously intelligent, beautiful, great figure, and just eschews fashion…I don’t know why she doesn’t want to get it, but she doesn’t! I really think that her disposition on it is ‘I’m too smart for it,’ but I want to say, ‘It’s not ephemeral. It’s not trivial. It is the semiology of clothing!’ She should get that.”
Gunn says he’d like to see her in shorter dresses and much better fitting clothes. He says he’d also like to talk to her about the proportion of jewelry relative to her clothes.
Poor Meryl. She doesn’t stand a chance.

Somebody should talk to Gunn about the proportion of time relative to total life span that’s spent on what really counts.
Streep is a person of substance. It doesn’t matter what she wears.
